If you envision yourself to be an outdoorsman or woman, you may want to check out the SAS Survival Guide app, which gives you all of the handy tips and tricks you may need to be Man versus Wild in the wilderness. I myself like to go camping from time to time, and I figured that this would be a fun app to have on hand to impress anyone that I was with. They may think that I know things about wild mushrooms, cloud formations, or even being able to tell what time it is by the sun. (Of course, it wouldn’t make any sense that I was telling what time it is by the sun if I had my iPhone with me, but you get the idea.)
I have been beefing up on all of this survival information, including information on fishing and hunting, food to eat while you are in the wild, and the best methods for camping. Of course, much of this information I will never need to use since I bring a little pop-up tent, grill hot dogs, and have a couple of beers on a camping adventure, but you never know! This is for the serious outdoorsman or woman in everyone.

I feel like I am finally experiencing my city for the first time! If you have lived in your town for a little while, yet feel burned out like you have done everything there is to do, you may want to download the Near to Here iPhone app. This is a fantastic choice at around two dollars, and it gives you information about stuff to do nearby. I started out by using it in my own city to do a little bit of fun exploration, but it will tell you the 411 anywhere that you are at.
As an example, if you are traveling in New York City, it will tell you detailed information about what to do nearby, including the best landmarks. You can consider this to be your pocket tour guide, and it can be used all over the world. Oftentimes, it is so easy to overlook something interesting in your neck of the woods, or even when you travel to a new city. This is your opportunity to begin to unearth new sights, especially if you want to try out something different within your own town. Maybe you haven’t visited a specific landmark in your city since the fifth grade, so why not try it again?

If you are ready to cook like Martha, you can now do so for less than a dollar. I personally find Martha Stewart somewhat intimidating, especially since her recipes and decorating tips seem pretty complicated. The odd part is that she does them so effortlessly, so you are the fool if you can’t do them just as well. Maybe this iPhone app will be exactly what you have been looking for to help you become the next Martha Stewart!
It will give you a number of quick dinner recipes, and they also come with special tips from team Martha Stewart. There are recipe choices available for seasonal items and other cuisine choices. You can also use this app to create your own shopping list when you are buying special and fancy ingredients. Conveniently enough, you will be able to add all of the ingredients of a specific recipe to your shopping list with one touch. In fact, if you whip up something quite amazing, you can pass the recipe on to family members and friends through this convenient iPhone app so that they can try it themselves at any time. It’s times like these that you ask yourself what would Martha do?

I have to admit that I am completely addicted to Pandora, which is why I was intrigued with the newer Midomi iPhone app I recently downloaded. This is a similar music app, but it has different features than Pandora. For instance, you may be wanting to enter an artist into Pandora, like a song that you heard on Grey’s Anatomy the night before. What are you going to do if you can’t think of who sang it, or what the song was called?
Midomi allows you to sing part of the song into your iPhone, and it will try to tell you what it is. You can also speak the name of the song title or artist to find out more about the artist to pinpoint what song you are looking for. You can also type in a song title or artist for a more accurate selection than speaking your search phrase. And the best part of all is that you can hold your iPhone directly at the TV when you’re watching Grey’s Anatomy so that this app can tell you exactly what song it is, and add it to your playlist. Technology at its best, and even better, it is free!

You can practice your doctor skills by downloading the Amateur Surgeon iPhone app for around five dollars! This is something inspired by Adult Swim, and it stars a pizza delivery boy. He is into amateur surgery, and there are many different tools that you can use, like a stapler and pizza cutter. This is an app that is only available for users over 17 because of its content, but it is definitely a weird little app to add to your iPhone repertoire.
This is something that many users like because you can play a more bloody and strange version of Operation. If you are someone who enjoys Adult Swim regularly, then this may be right up your alley. This is something that you can use to improve your hand eye coordination and entertain yourself if you are waiting for the bus, the train, or even your doctor’s appointment. Many users that I know get so into it that they play it on a continuous basis so be warned that this app can be quite addicting! If you have always been meaning to get around to going to medical school, then this is your opportunity to practice your surgical skills for under five dollars.

If you are a fan of iPhone apps, then you should be getting excited for 2010. One of the newer games available in 2010 as an iPhone app is GTA: Chinatown Wars. This Grand Theft Auto app is already a game on PlayStation and Nintendo DS. It is the 13th Grand Theft Auto Game, so if you are a fan with an iPhone, then this is probably something that you are anticipating.
Chinatown Wars looks different from all of the other games because it works with a fully rotatable camera to provide more insight into the action. In this game, the player has the potential to take out as many cop cars as they can to escape the police. Basically, if the player accumulates more stars, they will have to take out more cops on every level. This is just another fantastic game to have available with you anywhere you go on your iPhone, which is exactly why it is much anticipated for 2010. The iPhone provides handheld action on a number of popular games, which is something that you can take advantage of on your daily commute, between classes, or even when you have some downtime at work. Get ready for this game in 2010!

This may not be the most fun subject to talk about, but it is necessary to protect yourself from a DUI, especially around the holidays! It is never wise to drink and drive, and this Blood Alcohol Concentration Calculator iPhone app will allow you to make sure that you are safe behind the wheel. This app does have a disclaimer that it is not supposed to replace a real blood alcohol test, so you do need to be careful when you have anything to drink and get behind the wheel.
This app will calculate your weight, the number of drinks that you have had, and then give you your estimated BAC. This is a very important app because it also gives you a different percentage based on your gender. Men are known to be able to metabolize more alcohol than women, so you may have a different percentage whether you are male or female. The bottom line is not to drink and drive, especially around the holidays with all of the Christmas parties you may be going to. If you can, get a DD to come with you to your office party, or call a cab to take you home!

I have to admit that Fandango always sucks me in with all of those handy commercials they play for their website before your movie begins at the theater. Still, I can’t tell you how many times I have wanted to see the latest Brad Pitt/George Clooney/Drew Barrymore/you name it movie, only to have it sold out on me on opening night… Now I can use the help of my iPhone with this free Fandango app! This app is going to pull up all of the movies in your area in your zip code in a long list.
From this point, you can also check out the runtime, synopsis, trailer, and even poster art for the movie. After you have decided which delightful cinematic adventure that you want to see, you can purchase the tickets directly through your iPhone. If you are someone who braves the movies with all of the crowds on the weekend, then this is a definite must in an iPhone application. Fandango is a really catchy website, but what if you aren’t at home on your computer? If you are out to dinner and have suddenly decided to see a movie, then you can purchase the tickets before it gets sold out!
