Do You Like The Onion?

April 13th, 2010 by Natalie

No, not onions, but the newspaper, The Onion. The Onion is a collaborative newspaper that shows funny and absurd headlines, which can be quite entertaining. Even better, you can get this app on your iPhone to check out any time that you would like. It is absolutely free, but we all know that it comes with a little bit of advertising as a result. Hopefully, The Onion will create a paid version in the future that will eliminate any type of advertising.

This app does have nice, large text, which makes it easy to read. Even better, fans of The Onion are going to be happy with the ability to view videos and audio that will definitely have you smiling while working. This is a fun alternative to break away from an actual newspaper and enjoy life a little bit, especially in poking fun at the headlines. As an example, you may want to read more about headlines like, “Chimp In Cocaine Study Starts Lying To Friends “. How incredibly shocking! Yes, this is a lighthearted and fun app that will take you off of the beaten path as opposed to CNN, but it’s definitely worth checking out, especially since it is free.

Are You Addicted to Shoes?

April 2nd, 2010 by Reyna

Are you an avid shopper? Then you may be addicted to the Lucky at Your Service iPhone app, which is absolutely free. It was created by Lucky Magazine, and it shows you all of the shoes that they have available. It will also tell you details about where to find these shoes at stores in your area. Even better, if you choose a pair of shoes that you really like, there is a concierge that can call up the store for you to determine if there is a pair of the shoes available in your size. When this happens, you will receive a confirmation e-mail within only 10 minutes to tell you that the shoes are available!

This is the perfect choice for any shoe junkie, which can describe most of the women that I know. Of course, constantly shopping for shoes is a guilty obsession, but this iPhone app makes it that much easier. It even has categories based on shoe trends, whether you are looking for wedge sandals, high heels, or ballet flats. Of course, if you are on a budget, you will want to be careful with this addicting shoe shopping iPhone app, which can be a dangerous and wonderful tool at the same time!

iPhone Fun in the Wilderness

March 25th, 2010 by Natalie

campIf you envision yourself to be an outdoorsman or woman, you may want to check out the SAS Survival Guide app, which gives you all of the handy tips and tricks you may need to be Man versus Wild in the wilderness. I myself like to go camping from time to time, and I figured that this would be a fun app to have on hand to impress anyone that I was with. They may think that I know things about wild mushrooms, cloud formations, or even being able to tell what time it is by the sun. (Of course, it wouldn’t make any sense that I was telling what time it is by the sun if I had my iPhone with me, but you get the idea.)

I have been beefing up on all of this survival information, including information on fishing and hunting, food to eat while you are in the wild, and the best methods for camping. Of course, much of this information I will never need to use since I bring a little pop-up tent, grill hot dogs, and have a couple of beers on a camping adventure, but you never know! This is for the serious outdoorsman or woman in everyone.

Check Out the New iPad

March 18th, 2010 by Sheena

The iPad is sure to be a hit since it gives you all of the convenience of the iPhone, but with a larger screen. Most of the benefits of the iPad can be seen for professionals on the go, especially if you are someone constantly in need of e-mail, calendar, or even the note taking application. The iPad also has the convenience of showing large pictures like a digital photo frame, which is wonderful to use as a dual purpose if you want to set up your iPad on your desk when you’re not using it.

The only thing to take into consideration is to make sure that you are careful with the screen of your iPad since it is delicate. Much of the convenience of the iPad is that it is sleek and sophisticated, but it is more fragile than a large laptop. If you have your iPad in your bag or purse, take care with the quality and condition of the screen to prevent any need for iPad repair. This is your opportunity to protect your investment so that you can keep using your iPad for years to come as the perfect compromise between a laptop and an iPhone. What are you waiting for?

Learn More About Your City

March 4th, 2010 by Sheena

sightI feel like I am finally experiencing my city for the first time! If you have lived in your town for a little while, yet feel burned out like you have done everything there is to do, you may want to download the Near to Here iPhone app. This is a fantastic choice at around two dollars, and it gives you information about stuff to do nearby. I started out by using it in my own city to do a little bit of fun exploration, but it will tell you the 411 anywhere that you are at.

As an example, if you are traveling in New York City, it will tell you detailed information about what to do nearby, including the best landmarks. You can consider this to be your pocket tour guide, and it can be used all over the world. Oftentimes, it is so easy to overlook something interesting in your neck of the woods, or even when you travel to a new city. This is your opportunity to begin to unearth new sights, especially if you want to try out something different within your own town. Maybe you haven’t visited a specific landmark in your city since the fifth grade, so why not try it again?

What Would Martha Do?

February 26th, 2010 by Natalie

If you are ready to cook like Martha, you can now do so for less than a dollar. I personally find Martha Stewart somewhat intimidating, especially since her recipes and decorating tips seem pretty complicated. The odd part is that she does them so effortlessly, so you are the fool if you can’t do them just as well. Maybe this iPhone app will be exactly what you have been looking for to help you become the next Martha Stewart!

It will give you a number of quick dinner recipes, and they also come with special tips from team Martha Stewart. There are recipe choices available for seasonal items and other cuisine choices. You can also use this app to create your own shopping list when you are buying special and fancy ingredients. Conveniently enough, you will be able to add all of the ingredients of a specific recipe to your shopping list with one touch. In fact, if you whip up something quite amazing, you can pass the recipe on to family members and friends through this convenient iPhone app so that they can try it themselves at any time. It’s times like these that you ask yourself what would Martha do?

Is Bill Gates a Fan of the iPad?

February 11th, 2010 by Sheena

Does Bill Gates not like the iPad? Apparently, Bill Gates was not a fan of the iPad that was introduced by Apple at the end of January. He feels that the iPad is targeting a demographic that wants to own a tablet type PC and that the new iPad has shortcomings. He feels that it should have more features, like a literal keyboard, a pen, and other accessories. Right now, he is only seeing the iPad as a device to read electronic books instead of being so much more.

Regardless of your feelings about the iPad, it presents a quick way for you to read books, and on top of that, use all of the tools within an iPod touch in a larger screen. This is something that many people are going to love because it is smaller and more compact than a laptop, but it is as sleek and convenient as an iPhone or iPod touch. If you are the user of an iPad, you are still going to need iPad repair as an option, so it is great news to know that there are many reputable companies online that can offer this professional service. This is the help you need if you crack your screen on this new device!

Grown Up Comfort Food?

February 4th, 2010 by Sheena

It must have something to do with my childhood, but I am constantly craving macaroni and cheese! Truly delicious… I decided to look up an interesting recipe for gourmet macaroni and cheese on my iPhone to impress friends of mine at a dinner party. Everyone likes comfort foods, so I decided to make it even more fun, and I texted everyone on my iPhone to bring a fancy version of their favorite comfort dish. I guess you could say that this idea was breaking out a little bit of the Top Chef in me because it sounds like one of their challenges.

I have to tell anyone out there that has not yet tried gourmet macaroni and cheese that it is absolutely addicting! There are a number of different ways to make it, but why not get even more fancy and use different cheeses that you may not have ever tried before? You can also use different types of macaroni pasta, like whole grain, spinach pasta, or even pasta that is gluten free. I ended up finding a wealth of recipes in an iPhone app, and I went for a richer taste in a mixture of Romano, Gorgonzola, and Mozzarella cheeses. Mmm…
