My Lego Obsession
June 28th, 2010 by BrentSave Money on Your Pedicure
June 18th, 2010 by BrentThe summer is upon us, which means that it is the season for a gorgeous pedicure. I actually have an app on my iPhone that helps me to find salons in my area, but I was thinking that maybe I could try to do it myself at home. For this reason, I have decided to provide some helpful tips for an at-home pedicure:
• Fill up your bathtub with warm water and sea salt, and soak your feet for five minutes.
• Cut your toenails straight across, and round the edges with a file.
• Scrub your feet and calves with an exfoliating scrub in circular motions for several minutes to remove dead skin.
• Use a callous softening product with a nonabrasive exfoliant to smooth out the bottom of your feet. Scrub for several minutes until they feel smooth to the touch.
• Rinse and dry your feet, and apply cuticle oil to minimize hangnails.
• Apply your color of choice, such as something bold and bright for the summer season.
• If you are looking for something more subtle, go for a light orange or poppy to complement your skin tone.
• Finish the at-home pedi by adding a top coat to set the polish in place.
Voilà! Don’t you feel like a million bucks?

How Much Protein Do You Need?
June 4th, 2010 by Landon
Protein can be used for a number of purposes, such as providing energy, helping you to maintain muscle mass, and also helping you to lose weight. Most recently, I have been counting calories through an app on my iPhone that milliamp.com repaired for me, but it does not seem to provide accurate information on protein. That is why I decided to figure out how much protein you should have, especially if you are attempting to cut out extra carbohydrates in your diet. You may not realize that you can overdo it when it comes to protein, which is a common side effect of diets that are low carb, such as the Atkins diet.
What recent research has shown, however, is that if you are eating a balanced diet, you probably have all of the protein that you need a daily basis. The amount of protein that you should intake will depend upon your activity and weight level. As an example, an adult that is 130 pound should have 47 g of protein, which could roughly equal 8 ounces of yogurt, 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, and 3 ounces of cooked chicken. As you can see, it is very easy to get this amount of protein within one meal, and for any specific protein concerns, you should consult with your doctor right away.
Will Steak and Eggs Help You Lose Weight?
June 1st, 2010 by Brent
I’m sure that I’m not the only one that has losing a little bit of weight on their mind for the summer season, which is why I was checking out all of this information on my iPhone that milliamp.com repaired for me recently to find the best tips for staying slim in the summertime. Interestingly enough, I discovered that steak and eggs are some of the best foods to help you lose weight. If that sounds too good to be true, it really is not! Studies have shown that a diet that includes red meat made women more likely to lose weight than eating the same amount of calories that did not include beef. Steak has a substantial amount of protein that will help you to boost your lean muscle mass, which is something that aids in weight loss.
Likewise, eggs will not harm your heart as they have been rumored to, but they may help you lose a little more weight. Another study showed that women who were on a low calorie diet that had an egg every morning lost twice as much weight as those women that only had a bagel for breakfast that equaled the same amount of calories without any eggs. Egg protein is very filling, so it will prevent you from overeating later on in the day. Personally, this is fantastic news because I can never turn down steak and eggs!
Have Fun at the Spa!
May 24th, 2010 by Sheena
One of the most fun activities to plan with your girlfriends or family members is going to a spa for a few days. If you haven’t yet tried it, I looked up a few fun tips on my iPhone to get you started and possibly entice you to book!
If you want to have the best spa trip as a weekend getaway, make sure that you book for a minimum of four nights to have a real experience. It is also important to meet with the spa coordinators right away to get set up for your weekend, and make sure that you have chosen a spa that fits your personality and needs. You and your girlfriends may want a spa that focuses on beauty treatments, or you may want a different spa that focuses on nutrition and exercise. The best way to gauge the quality of a spa is by how many professionals that they have on staff, which will give you a variety of choices in your treatments. Make sure to read reviews on the spa that you are considering a few months in advance so that you can have all of your questions answered to determine if you are booking the best spa for your group!
Yoga on My iPhone
May 11th, 2010 by ReynaI am an avid workout freak, but I have to confess that I often times get tired of doing the same workouts over and over again. That was why I decided to download the yoga app on my iPhone, which gave me helpful options in creating my own yoga series based on the poses that I selected. This is something fun that I can use when I’m watching TV or listening to relaxing music, and it allows me to be my own personal yoga instructor.
For instance, if I am looking for something to promote flexibility, I can create soothing flows of yoga poses that are easy to do. If I want a little bit more of a workout with upper body strength, I can choose the more difficult yoga poses, like plank or downward dog. For anyone who is a yoga fan or simply interested in trying something new to mix up their workout, this is a fun alternative that you can do at home. I have to confess that one of my greatest advantages to this is in those times when I really don’t want to drive to the gym, but it still gives me enough motivation to continue to work out.
No More Texting and Driving!
May 5th, 2010 by Natalie
You are probably just as guilty as anyone else, especially if you have an iPhone while you are driving. I have to tell you from personal experience that I am always tempted to go to my iPhone when I’m driving for a text, to check out Facebook, or to play a game. How reckless is that? More and more stories are surfacing about the dangers of texting and driving, so make sure that you are vigilant about staying away from this harmful habit.
Texting and driving puts you in much more danger than you would think, especially if your eyes aren’t constantly on the road. Unfortunately, this is a behavior that is very common in teens since they have grown up using cell phones. Cell phones are the way that they connect with all of their friends, especially with Facebook readily available on the iPhone. If you do have a teenager, make sure that they understand the serious dangers of texting and driving since more and more teens are getting into harmful or fatal accidents on a regular basis simply because of texting. This is one of the main reasons that many states are creating laws that you can’t use your cell phone while you are driving. What a novel idea!
Long Winded Idol
April 27th, 2010 by Landon
If you are a fan of American Idol, you may have realized last week that it was longer than ever. I personally was watching American Idol, and it cut off from being recorded on my DVR because it was going so long. For this reason, I got on my iPhone on Twitter right away, and I decided to see how quickly I could find out who was voted off. Of course, this left me on my iPhone on Twitter obsessing over who was voted off, when it really took about a half hour after American Idol was supposed to be over to find out.
Of course, it was Tim Urban, which, to me, was a wonderful form of justice because he has been taking up air time with his bad singing for way too many weeks at a time. Yes, that is harsh, but we all basically understood that he was eye candy for little girls and would not become the next American Idol. I was excited to see the performance by Mary J. Blige, but again, that was something that was cut off on my recording from the long, long American Idol showcase. If only it had been shorter, I could have seen the results myself…
Is Rihanna Your Number 1?
April 22nd, 2010 by Brent
For any Rihanna fans out there, you may be happy to know that she is still number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for the fifth week in a row. It’s no secret that Rihanna is hotter than ever, especially with her latest single Rude Boy. Rude Boy has been number one for the fifth week in a row, and it seems that Rihanna is raining the top of the charts. Personally, I have quite a bit of her music on my iPod and iPhone because it is perfect to work out to. If you have been checking out American Idol, you probably also saw her perform last week in an all-black cat suit.
You would think that Lady Gaga would be a tough competition in reaching the top of the charts, but her latest single Telephone is actually down several spots this past week to become number seven. As a longtime Rihanna fan, it’s pretty interesting to see how her music is changed over the years, especially since it is overall accepted that her music is much darker now. Nonetheless, there is a reason she is at the top, so she must be doing something right. Who is on your iPod?
